Two gardens were combined but formed an awkward L-shaped plot with two distinct styles.  The design needed to 'hide the join', creating a seamless flow between the two spaces.

By using organic, undulating borders and winding paths through the dense planting, the eye is distracted from the awkward garden footprint, unable to see the garden its entirety.

A sunken terrace, framed by oak sleeper retaining walls, leads to a self-binding gravel path, inviting exploration through the garden. Surrounded by densely planted borders the path leads to the potager, enclosed by an Osmanthus burkwoodii hedge. A small greenhouse and a painted shed sit amongst raised vegetable beds crafted from oak sleepers. Beyond, the path meanders towards a summer house, embraced by a flourishing wildflower meadow and shaded by fruit trees, creating a tranquil retreat. Continuing on, the path winds through a wildlife corner, where a pond and insect-friendly habitats foster biodiversity, allowing immersion in nature. Eventually, the route loops back, returning to the terrace - a harmonious blend of structure and wilderness.
