Family Garden, Market Lavington

Autumn 2018

Before

The garden surrounding this family home was laid to lawn; there were no seating areas, dining areas or even a path from the backdoor! Whilst major refurbishment was taking place on the buildings exterior the client approached Wiltshire Garden Design to create a garden which would  bring colour and interest.

Design

Terraces were proposed for several locations around the house, some larger for outdoor dining and others slightly smaller that would catch the last of the sun's warmth.  These were linked by a gravel path which encircled the entire house joining up with the driveway and main entrance. A significant change in levels was accommodated by a sleeper wall to retain the higher ground and also create an enclosed terrace for a future hot tub.

Planting

Borders were created around the entire house perimeter.  The scheme was kept deliberately simple with bulbs for spring colour, easy care perennials to fill out quickly and a few key evergreens to provide structure.  Climbers were also included to soften large areas of rendered wall.
